Welcome to the second episode of the Climate, Mind and Behavior Podcast. Each episode, we’ll explore groundbreaking intersections between human behavior, resilience, climate change and contemplative practice.
Sharon Salzberg is a meditation teacher and New York Times best-selling author. She is the co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and has played a crucial role in bringing Buddhist meditation practices to the West. Sharon has been a student of meditation since 1971, guiding retreats worldwide since 1974. She is a weekly columnist for On Being, a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and the author of many books including Real Happiness and Lovingkindness.
Sharon visited the Garrison Institute last month to co-lead the annual People Who Care for People retreat with the Holistic Life Foundation. We sat down together to discuss her personal journey from a meditation student studying in India in the early 1970s to a renowned teacher and the ways she connects her practice to social change and the global climate movement.
