At the Garrison Institute’s 2011 Climate, Cities and Behavior Symposium, Dorian Dale, the Energy Director and Sustainability Officer for the Town of Babylon, describes the Long Island Green Homes program. He discusses how the program has sought to eliminate many of the barriers homeowners and buyers face when deciding whether or not to build a green home or to retrofit an existing home, such as eliminating the additional upfront materials and installation costs. He highlights key partnerships and promotional activities, and observes that in addition to financial savings, people are drawn to the enhanced comfort and convenience of green living spaces.
