The Initiative on Contemplation and Education will be convening an education symposium, Advancing the Science and Practice of Contemplative Education, November 4-6, 2011 at the Garrison Institute. New research points to the benefits of contemplative education on the inner lives of children and adults, including social and emotional learning. This symposium will bring together teachers, school administrators, health professionals, academics, researchers, policymakers and the media to discuss the principles of contemplative education and the benefits of introducing it into the mainstream. Dr. Mark Greenberg, Director of the Prevention Research Center at Penn State University and a leader in the field of Social and Emotional Learning, is the keynote speaker.
