Garrison Institute CEO Mary Pearl was inducted as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) at a ceremony in Washington, DC on February 19th. The AAAS is the world’s largest professional society of scientists and engineers and publisher of the journal Science. Election as a Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. Fellows are named because of their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. Dr. Pearl was elected a fellow under AAAS’s Section on Biological Sciences. In addition to leading the Garrison Institute, Dr. Pearl is a leading wildlife biologist who, according to Newsweek magazine, “spearheaded the development of ‘conservation medicine,'” a new field exploring connections between the health of humans, wildlife and ecosystems.”
