Pathways to Planetary Health Forum: Summer 2022 Series Introduction
Building on the momentum of our Spring 2022 Pathways to Planetary Health (PPH) Forum series, the Garrison Institute is excited to announce its continuation through a new summer lineup. Our spring series created an arc across all four pathways to planetary health while engaging leading thinkers. This summer, we continue highlighting each pathway and bringing thought leaders to engage with our audience, this time with a focus on regeneration.
Paul Hawken, one of our spring PPH Forum guests, recently published the sweeping book Regeneration. It is subtitled Solving the Climate Crisis in One Generation, which points to both the urgency and ability we have to address the environmental crisis humanity now faces. It is with this in mind that our summer series guests speak to how we can all act towards regeneration of planet Earth.
In June we will welcome Daniel Christian Wahl, author of Designing Regenerative Cultures, teacher at Schumacher College, and creator of the Design for Sustainability course at Gaia Education. Daniel’s work exemplifies the intensive thoughtfulness and understanding necessary to build systems of regeneration and represents our Regenerative Economics pathway.
In July we are pleased to welcome Justin Winters, Co-founder & Executive Director at One Earth. Through her work across science, advocacy, and philanthropy she thoughtfully pursues our Half Earth pathway.
In August we welcome Michelle Moore, CEO of Groundswell, author of the upcoming book Rural Renaissance: Revitalizing America’s Hometowns through Clean Power, and President Biden nominee to the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors. Michelle’s work in clean energy, and focus on rural communities, exemplifies action in pursuit of an Ecological Civilization.
Finally, in September we are joined by Nicole Redvers, co-founder of the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation, author of The Science of the Sacred: Bridging Global Indigenous Medicine Systems and Modern Scientific Principles, and faculty at the University of North Dakota where she helped developed and launch the first Indigenous health PhD program. Nicole, a member of the Deninu K’ue First Nation in Denendeh (NWT, Canada), promotes the inclusion of indigenous perspectives on planetary health, which aligns closely with our work on the Common Good.
Throughout the Summer 2022 PPH Forum series, we will also welcome special guests aligned to regeneration and planetary health. We will share details about these guests shortly before their event.
