Garrison Institute’s “Insight + Impact” Benefit
583 Park Avenue, New York City
6:30pm – 10pm
The mission of the evening will be to continue to make the Garrison Institute’s innovative transformational programs available to a broader global community; support its growing number of scholarships to programs and retreats and advance the mission of the Institute in the next decade.
The event will honor Sharon Salzberg, co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society, and a beloved, internationally known meditation teacher for more than thirty years and author of 9 books, including New York Times best-selling Real Happiness and Lovingkindness. Sharon leads retreats every year at Garrison Institute, including her very popular annual retreat with Sylvia Boorstein. It will also honor Rabbi Rachel Cowan, a Senior Fellow and Co-Founder of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS), who was selected as one of the 50 most influential rabbis by Newsweek magazine in 2007 and again in 2012. Her pioneering approach to Jewish spirituality is reflected in her multiple retreats at Garrison Institute including co-teaching with Sharon Salzberg and Norman Fischer. Her recently published book, Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience, and Spirit will serve as the foundation for an interfaith retreat at the Institute next spring.
There will be performances by Golden Globe Award winning composer Philip Glass, Grammy Award winning musician Shawn Colvin and cellist Zoë Keating.
We hope you will attend this joyful celebration of our gathered community, connecting friends old and new.
