At the Garrison Institute’s 2011 Climate, Cities and Behavior Symposium, Lisa Orr, the Sustainability Program Coordinator for Frederick County, MD’s Office of Sustainability discusses Maryland’s Green Homes Challenge. The three projects within the program, “Be a Power Saver,” “Be a Green Leader,” and “Be a Renewable Star” are designed to facilitate behavior change in several key areas, namely reducing energy use, adopting environmentally friendly household practices, and using renewable energy respectively. She described her strategy of considering personality types to more effectively motivate behavior change.
